Medicine For Melancholy is the story of two African-American twenty-somethings who wake up in bed together having no recollection of how they arrived there. Then, an exercise in the mundane: they dress; neither has a toothbrush, find themselves side by side at the sink, thumbing toothpaste across their gums; decide to have a cup of coffee at a nearby café; sit together then, while awaiting service, realize neither knows the other's name; introduce; cab for the trip home-"across town"; shake hands, part ways. Hours later, the guy (Micah) shows up at her apartment. She left her purse on the backseat. There's a connection. They give themselves over to it. Wandering the streets of San Francisco on a Sunday afternoon, the pair take in the sights of the city less seen in today's cinema. As day gives way to night and their heads swirl further with the euphoria of pleasures both physical and intellectual, the immediacy of their previous physical encounter leads them to explore each other in a succession of moments so intimate the vulnerability they share changes them forever. By the time these two part ways is it literally a "brand new day." Music For Melancholy is the mix inspired by this beautiful thought provoking film featuring tracks that recall the journey that these two unlikely lovers take toward togetherness and understanding. Mesmerizing and demure, her allure is a thing of mystery. Her soft spoken off beat style is not the typical type you would attribute to the standard soul singer. But when she sings your ears stand at attention. Swedish electro-soul songstress Kissey Asplund is an addictive wonder, and I've been hooked on her sound ever since I first heard her music on Myspace. Her sound and style was so intriguing I not only had to find out more about her music but also about the music that she listened too because it was so inspired. It's through her unique style and ear for music is how I found all the artists that I love today and probably wouldn't have if I hadn't heard of her first. Her music is one of the reasons that I do what I do. And it's only fitting that I pay tribute to one of the artists that inspires me. This special tribute mix 'A Blues For Kissey' is a blend of some of my favorite Kissey Asplund tunes. Some from her extraordinary debut album 'Plethora' and other rare gems, guest appearances, and exclusives that showcase her amazing talent. If you haven't been up on Kissey Asplund before then I hope this will urge you to get to know her. I'm sure you'll be as hooked on her as I am.

The Storm of the Century, also known as the ’93 Superstorm, No-Name Hurricane, the White Hurricane, or the (Great) Blizzard of 1993, was a large cyclonic storm that occurred on March 12 – March 15, 1993, on the East Coast of North America. It is unique for its intensity, massive size and wide-reaching effect. At its height the storm stretched from Canada to Central America, but its main impact was on the Eastern United States and Cuba. Areas as far south as central Alabama and Georgia received 6 to 8 inches of snow and areas such as Birmingham, Alabama, received up to 12 inches with isolated reports of 16 inches. Even the Florida Panhandle reported up to 2 inches, with hurricane-force wind gusts and record low barometric pressures. Between Florida and Cuba, hurricane-force winds produced extreme storm surges in the Gulf of Mexico, which along with scattered tornadoes killed dozens of people.

March 1, 2009... Visible snow covers Birmingham for the first time 16 years later... Was today just the calm that comes before?

Inspiration can come in many different forms and it's both ironic and amazing from where it can spring. The mind is truly beautiful, because honestly I was blocked for a long time creatively but meeting up with some like mined, cool folks and a little help from a source that needs not be mentioned (irony) I haven't felt more creative than I do right now and It makes me happy to share just some of what I been working on. This is something to behold (c) Muhsinah
